Privacy Policy

UWMathFinder is a free, student-built study tool for finding past University of Washington math exams and generating practice exams. This page explains what information is collected when you use the site, and why. We keep this deliberately short and plain.
What we collect
UWMathFinder has no accounts, no logins, and no forms that store your personal information. We use two third-party analytics services, which collect anonymized usage data through cookies and similar technologies:
- Google Analytics — measures aggregate usage: how many people visit, which pages and tools they use, roughly where visitors are located (country/region), browser and device type, and how they arrived at the site. It also records anonymous counts of certain actions, such as how many practice exams are generated. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.
- Microsoft Clarity — records anonymized usage behavior (such as clicks, scrolling, and session replays of page interactions) and heatmaps, so we can see where the site is confusing or broken and fix it. Clarity is configured to mask text you type, so the content of search boxes and any text fields is not recorded.
Neither tool is used to build a personal profile of you, and we do not attempt to re-identify individual visitors.
Cookies
Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set cookies (and may use similar browser storage) to distinguish visitors and sessions for the analytics described above. The site also stores a small preference in your browser to remember your light/dark theme choice — this never leaves your device. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will still work.
How the data is used
We use this information only to understand how the site is used and to make it better — for example, to see which courses and features are popular, to find and fix usability problems, and to report simple aggregate numbers (like total practice exams generated). We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone except the analytics providers above, who process it on our behalf under their own terms.
Your choices
- You can use a browser extension or setting that blocks analytics, or enable "Do Not Track" — the site works either way.
- You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time.
- Google provides an opt-out for Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Who runs this site
UWMathFinder is an independent, non-commercial project built by students. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the University of Washington. Exam materials are reproduced from publicly posted UW mathematics examinations for non-commercial student practice, with credit to their original authors and the UW Department of Mathematics.
